There's less than a week to go until the 4th Annual Hidden Gardens Tour, Sunday, May 18, 2008, 10 am to 4 pm. The tour will feature 10 private gardens on Munjoy Hill, open to the public for this day only. Buy tickets on the day of the tour for $20.00 at the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization building at 92 Congress St., Portland, ME. Advance tickets are also available for $15.00 at various greenhouses throughout the area. These are all listed to the right of the page on this blog.

One of our beneficiaries from funds raised by the 2007 Hidden Garden Tour, was Portland Trails. Our contribution helped complete and reopen Jack Path. This path is part of a walking trail on Munjoy Hill which connects Walnut Street at Sheridan with the new East End Community School (formerly Jack Elementary School) on North Street and the Eastern Prom. Jack Path is less than 1/4 of a mile long through woodsy terrain. On the day the committee presented our check, school children were helping put in plantings along the trail.

It's the end of March. Garden Tour tickets will go on sale in April. The gardens are lined up and we're looking for volunteers to sit in the gardens. Next will be a little report about Jack Path of Portland Trails, recipient of some of last year's Garden Tour proceeds.

Finally it is March. The Flower Show is over and we met a lot of visitors there, and sold some pre-tour tickets, $15.; $20. day of the tour. Soon to be announced where you can get your tickets for the May 18th tour.

Nine private gardens with spring plantings are open to the public at the Munjoy Hill Hidden Gardens Tour, Spring Edition, will take place on May 18, 2008, 10am to 4pm, Portland, ME

Other events:

•Walk on Jack Path, newly renovated by Portland Trails.

•Visit Community gardens on North St.

•View Pink Tulips blooming near Cutter St. and along the Eastern Prom near the esplanade for breast cancer awareness.

••S.E.A.(Society of East End Arts) will have open studios artists tour.

We getting ready for the green at the Portland Flower Show, taking place March 5 to 9, 2008. Munjoy Hill Hidden Gardens Tour will have a booth at the flower show, 58 Fore St., Portland, ME, 10 am to 6 pm. Look for us upstairs. We'll be selling tour tickets to this year's show along with last year's tour poster with the beautiful illustration by Claudia Diller. And we'll be handing out Save the Date postcard reminders for this year's tour on May 18, 2008.
